Created by a veteran family for veteran families

CorpsStrength is an organization designed to make it easier for veterans and their families along the complex road to recovery from complex injuries. Founded in 2022 by Shane and Carey Picklesimer who hope to help other families by providing the services they wish they had found in their darkest days. Shane spent 26 years in the US Navy as a Deep Sea Diver and an Independent Duty Corpsman before he suffered a major accident on the way home from work just six months shy of retirement.

During his recovery from his orthopedic and brain injuries, he and his wife Carey learned how much work can go into finding and keeping the right care going. Veterans are often lucky to have access to VA Healthcare, but that doesn’t mean everything flows along smoothly. There was a tremendous amount of logistical work required to stay on top of the healthcare and to find the right supplemental programs that make a difference. Shane and Carey both realized that it was only because of luck that they found many of the things that were most helpful. Furthermore, all of this administrative effort had a tough impact on their marriage and their kids.

CorpsStrength was founded with the hope of making that luck happen for other veterans, as well as to ease the administrative struggle that many families in this situation face. We hope to ease the burden on the caregiver so they can focus more on their emotional role in the family rather than handling all the logistics and administrative work.

CorpsStrength is a registered 501c3. If you would like to learn more about how we began and where we intend to go, please download the CorpsStrength Intro and Long-Term Plan document.
